On July 4, 1939,  Lou Gehrig announced to his fans, "… today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth."  This year marks the 75th anniversary of these iconic words, which continue to inspire admiration for his courage in the face of his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). For this year’s Pacific Cup Race,  we invite you to stop by the main tent to learn more about the efforts of fellow competitor "Thirsty", who is “Sailing for ALS”.  The crew have dedicated their race to the cause, having lost a good friend and crew member to the disease.

Members of The ALS Association Golden West Chapter will be available to provide information about the disease, the research to find treatments and a cure, and the efforts to provide services and support to people with ALS and their families in California and Hawaii.
