KANEOHE BAY TIDES FOR JULY 2006
This might help you decide whether you want to come into the bay thru the Sampan Channel or the Main Ship Channel. The information below reflects the tides at Coconut Island, which is closer to the base of Sampan Channel. The Waikane site reflects the tides near the entrance to the Main Ship Channel. Not significantly different, but more precise. The tides in the Main Ship Channel are not important to you because it is a deep draft channel. The Sampan Channel, however, gets as low as 7' at mean lower low water. Keep in mind that the KYC Escort Committee will also have tide information at hand and will be able to guide you, based on your yacht's draft and the time of day or night that you finish the race. When making your decision (it is yours to make), remember that the Main Ship Channel adds about an hour to your travel time to cold mai tais'and the Sampan Channel has a sandy bottom!
