My Dad and I are planning on entering in the 2010 Pac Cup race, we have done plenty of offshore in the northwest and racing. We have been racing his Beneteau 35 s5 and trying to decide whether to race this boat, which is tried and true off the coast, or invest in something larger for the blue water, I see there is a variety of boats entered, any advice? Looking forward to next year! Thanks! Ryan
Lots of Beneteaus (Beneteaux?) have done the race, and lots have 35-footers as well. I'm not personally familiar with your model, but take a look at the "Past races" under resources and see how other similar boats performed, to see if you'll be happy.
Talk to your rigger and sailmaker too. That helps alot.
Hi - My son is on a sailboat called Flash that left Oahu yesterday for California. Last year I could watch his progress online via a tracking website yet I can't seem to find anything this time. He didn't call me before leaving, and I'm sure he's okay - I just feel better watching the dot on the map so I can see his progress & sleep better at night. Based on this website, it seems that there is no Pacific Cup race until 2010 (?). Do any of you have info on sites that may be tracking sailboats right now? thanks - andreastyle@mac.com
Flash is a well-found and managed boat. I am sure that all will be fine. If you go to the transpac site, you might learn a little more, but looking at the tracking it does not look like Flash is being tracked for the return.
Several services track boats IF they participate. Without knowing what Flash might be doing, if anything, it's hard to know where to steer you.
What am I missing here...I can read the crew listings when I click on Crew List, but can't for the life of me find a button to post a listing.
Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!
Very excited to to be a second time Pac Cupper!
Cheers and Aloha!

Sounds like fun! Getting the boat ready to go, only 1.5 years left!
