Waiting for finishers

Originally expected for Saturday, Pac Cup organizers are bracing themselves for over a dozen finishers today, many resolving some hard-fought contests on the race course.

The battle rages in the Svendsen's Bay Marine PHRF 3 Division. Kevin Wilkinson’s Jubilant is finishing as we write this, now an hour and a half behind new division leader the Boss, due to finish this afternoon. Kevin and the team will no doubt be watching the tracker, in the most genteel and sportsmanlike way possible, hoping for a slowdown on the Boss to return Jubilant to top of the division.

In the Doublehanded 1 Division Accelerando has a better than three hour margin over next competitor Wilder. With 75 miles to go, Wilder seems locked in to that second position unless she can plane the whole way in. Given the winds we’ve had in this race cycle, we’re not entirely counting that out. Accelerando is a bit farther out, so both boats are “in play.”

Paul Cayard brought Translated 9 US in yesterday, waving off the escort boat but happily accepting a cold maitai at the docks and taking a commanding first in the NAOS Yachts PHRF 4 Division. Shadowfax, Planet Express, and Festina Lente are battling it out for the rest of the podium

All but one boat in the Pasha Doublehanded 2 Division are in, with Moonshine barely edging out Wolfpack by a margin of an hour or so. Our race office informs that there are missed check-in time penalties to be applied, but that these should not affect the order.

Weems & Plath PHRF 1 has seen Cal 40 Azure pull in in front of Viva by a scant 16 minutes corrected.  Michael Johnson’s Vera Cruz should sidle in alongside in third position around 6 pm (HST) tonight.

The Goslings PHRF 2 Division has no finishers yet. We expect to see Tweety (Olson 30 Robert Schroer) tonight with a significant half-day scoring margin over the rest of the division. Next to finish will be our Polish entry Hultaj, who is carrying a significant eight hours lead over the rest.
