West Marine Pacific Cup
The Pacific Cup Yacht Club will offer a seminar on Sunday, February 19, 2006, which will focus on crew and boat preparation for the 2006 West Marine Pacific Cup Race. The Berkeley Yacht Club has kindly agreed to host the seminar, followed immediately by our traditional Winter Gathering. The seminar will feature experts from the marine industry and experienced sailors, including West Marine Pacific Cup veterans. It will be jammed with crucial safety and boat system information.
While the topics will concentrate on preparation for the West Marine Pacific Cup, the information provided will help anyone planning an off-shore passage. Topics will include hull and rudder integrity; electrical, navigation and plumbing systems; communications; rig integrity and sail selection; crew welfare; and downwind driving techniques. The seminar will last all day, starting at 0830 with coffee and registration, breaking for an included box lunch at noon, and continuing until 1700.
Following the seminar, from 1730 to 2000, we will hold our traditional Winter Gathering at the same location. Puu puus and a no-host bar will facilitate asking additional questions of the speakers, interacting with fellow sailors, even filling empty crew spots for the race.

Please include a check made out to the Pacific Cup Yacht Club for $35, which includes seminar, hand-out and lunch. We will add a $10 fee (and no guarantee of lunch or hand-out) for registrations at the door.
