RIVA LEADS FLEET IN WEST MARINE PACIFIC CUP
SAN FRANCISCO-KANEOHE RACE

July 7, 2006

Honolulu -- On Day 5, of the West Marine Pacific Cup, San Francisco-Kaneohe Yacht race, Riva, Scott Campbell's J46 out of Portland Yacht Club has the overall fleet and Division D lead. The larger 50-plus foot downwind specialists started yesterday and are roaring up in their wake.

The Doublehanded Division is turning into a competition between the Lewis and Mollner families. Ann Lewis and her son Patrick maintain their lead with Spirit, followed by the father and son team of Lorne and Mark Mollner on Slim. Third in the Doublehanders is Plus Sixteen, an Olson 911S from Richmond Yacht Club with Paul Desario and Tony Porche aboard.

Green Buffalo, a Cal 40 from San Francisco leads the Division A, yachts as the division is swapping positions with Hooligan second and Cassiopeia, an Islander 36 skippered by Kit Wiegman, third in division.

The Vetter family's Tutto Bene leads Division B, followed by Edward Morgan's Express 34, Locomotion. Irish Lady, the Mahony family's Catalina 42 MarkII moved into third in division standings.

Siderno, listed third in yesterday's report is now leading Division C, Arnold Zippel's Relentless is second and Auspice is now third in the division.

Riva, leads both the total fleet and Division D followed by Orizaba, a J-130, skippered by John Hanna from Portland. Mueadriaa's XL is third.

In their first day on the water, the Division E yachts are making their way through the fleet as Lightening, a Santa Cruz 52, flying the San Francisco Yacht Club burgee leads. The Laffitte family's Kyrnos, a Custom 56 out of Seattle Yacht Club is second and third is Cipango with four members of the Barton family on board.

Cipango is a busy yacht with race activity running over a several month calendar. Check out their website, www.cipangoracing.com.

Usually at this point in the race, someone has had sufficient problems to drop out and return to San Francisco or elsewhere on the coast. From the communications boat, Cayenne, we learn that there have been no reports of serious gear damage or any other mishap and all competitors made the startingline. It's also noted that if any damage it has been to a couple of tuna which were caught and consumed by members of the fleet.
