Honolulu -- Day # 3 of the 14th Biennial West Marine Pacific Cup, San Francisco-Kaneohe Yacht race finds Green Buffalo leading the fleet as another seven yachts started in the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge, today. The San Francisco-based Cal 40 also leads Division A.
Spirit remains as leader in the double handed division and second in the fleet. The Contessa is second in double handed yachts and Celerity is currently third.
Green Buffalo is in the second day of leading Division A with Cayenne running second and Hooligan, third.
Division B leader continues to be Tutto Bene. We noted yesterday that three members of the Vetter family are on board Tutto Bene, it turns out that a Vetter in-law, Stephan Kennery is also part of the crew. Second in Division B is Bequia and Compromise moves in to the division's third spot. Compromise is another "family" entry With David Englehart as Skipper, Sandy Englehart as Navigator, Miles Englehart on the crew as well as brother-in-law David Desch.
Division C with a July 4, start is led by Auspice, a Custom 40, skippered by James Coggin and flying the burgee of San Francisco Yacht Club. Relentless, a Sydney 32 out of San Francisco is third in today's roll call while Siderno, another San Francisco entry is third.
Of the seven yachts starting today, Antony Barren' Mureadritta's XL found the bay's 20 knot winds to her liking and crossed the start line first, followed by Two Guys on the Edge, Dan Doyle's Kaneohe Yacht Club entry.
Michael Moradzadeh's Cayenne is doubling as the fleet's communications boat. They report that their pace of yesterday was in the 8 knot range.
The final stating procedure is set for tomorrow afternoon, July 6, with seven yachts -- all over 50 feet in length.
