San Francisco -- First day roll call reports on the 14th Biennial West Marine Pacific Cup show three clear leaders in the 2040 mile race to Kaneohe as another 7 yachts crossed the start line near the Golden Gate Bridge, today. This brings the count up to 29 yachts on the water en route to Kaneohe Bay.

Sprit, a 34.47 foot Custom S&S leads the Double handed division and fleet with the mother and son team of Annie Lewis and son, Patrick. Celerity, a Hobie 33 and The Conetessa, a Swede 55 follow.

The seven yacht fleet, Division A is led by Green Buffalo, The Cal 50 of the husband and wife team of Skipper, Mary Lovely, and Navigator Jim Quanci. One of several "family" entries, Green Buffalo entries include two Quanci sons on the crew as well as two members of the Paulling family. Cassiopeia, an Islander 36 and Cirrus, a Standfast 40 out of Kaneohe follow.

The seven from Division B are led by Tutto Bene a Benteau 38s5 with three members of the Vetter family on board. Bequia, a Benetau 411 and Locomotion, an Express 34 follow. Valis, also in Division B had mechanical problems yesterday and had to hold their start until today when they crossed the stating line with the yachts from Division C.

In that start, Auspice, Jim Coggan's Custom 40 led the fleet over the starting line in clear weather and moderate winds.

A correction from the July 3, report -- Michael Moradzadeh's Cayenne was erroneously noted as flying the burgee of Belvedere Yacht Club. Correctly, Cayenne is out of Corinthian Yacht Club at Tiburon.
