This year the position reports will be presented in one table. This will simplify examining the data for the different yachts in the fleet. Each day's data are collected by the communication vessel Goliard and transmitted to shore via SailMail or Inmarsat C. The data will then be emailed to the website for processing and publishing. As published in the Communications Plan, the roll call will commence at 0900 PDT. It will take roughly an hour to complete the collection and confirmation of the data. Then it will take about an hour to email the data to our processing center. Add another hour of CPU time (we have a ton of charts to prepare!) and you can expect the presentations (charts and tables) to be ready by about 1200 noon PDT. And if anything goes wrong.... Please bear with us. You can rest assured that we are doing everything we can to get the data posted in the most timely manner possible. Our task of handling 80 boats is a much bigger undertaking than any other ocean race website we know of -- including the Whitbread!
